Three Easy Pieces on Schema Mappings for Tree-structured Data

چکیده

Schema mappings specify how data organized under a source schema should be reorganized under a target schema. For tree-structured data, the interplay between these specifications and the complex structural conditions imposed by the schemas, makes schema mappings a very rich formalism. Classical data management tasks, well-understood in the relational model, once again become challenging theoretical problems. Recent results on non-mixing integrity constraints help to push the decidability frontier further for three such problems: consistency of mappings, membership in the composition of mappings, and query answering.

XML Schema Mappings in the Presence of Key Constraints and Value Dependencies

Schema mappings play a central role in both data integration and data exchange, and are understood as high-level specifications describing the relationships between data schemas. Based on these specifications, data structured under a source schema can be transformed into data structured under a target schema. During the transformation some structural constraints, both context-free (the structur...

Mapping Discovery for XML Data Integration

The interoperability of heterogeneous data sources is an important issue in many applications such as mediation systems or web-based systems. In these systems, each data source exports a schema and each application defines a target schema representing its needs. The way instances of the target schema are derived from the sources is described through mappings. Generating such mappings is a diffi...

Self-Organizing Schema Mappings in the GridVine Peer Data Management System

GridVine is a Peer Data Management System based on a decentralized access structure. Built following the principle of data independence, it separates a logical layer – where data, schemas and mappings are managed – from a physical layer consisting of a structured Peer-to-Peer network supporting efficient routing of messages and index load-balancing. Our system is totally decentralized, yet it f...

SG-WRAP: A Schema-Guided Wrapper Generator

With the development of the Internet, the World-WideWeb has become everyone’s invaluable information source. However, most of data on the Web is currently in the form of HTML pages, which is neither well-structured nor associated with schema. It is almost impossible to use such data efficiently. Web wrapper technology has been developed to transform unstructured /semi-structured data to semi-st...
